Let’s Ride!
Just wanted to remind everyone about the Tucson Community Bike Ride tomorrow night. The emphasis is not skill or speed, the pace is relaxed and steady, perfect for catching up with friends while you ride… I heard the theme was mustaches so grow one, glue one, or draw one if you want to [...]

Mary Peters, Bush’s Secretary of Transportation, has found the culprit for our nation’s decaying bridges and highways: bicyclists.
It seems that some of the nation’s highway money is being spent to fund bike paths and other projects that are not legitimate transportation infrastructure.
From the article in Salon:
“There are museums that are being built with that money, [...]

Looks like she was in a marked bike route, too. The story (brief) is here.
It’s also worth taking a look at the comments section in the East Valley Tribune article, which is here.

Clever Cycles alerted me to this article with a cool video of a family using the Bakiets cargo bike. These are the beautiful Dutch bikes with the small front wheel and the long cargo box in the front of the rider.

Good grief. Man who killed cyclist in 2005 kills two more over Labor Day
Apparently he was driving drunk both times. The County is charging him with murder this time around. Not sure how they will prove intent, but perhaps an underlying felony gets them into homicide.’
The story is here. The family of the first man this person killed requested leniency, apparently in the hopes this [...]
"When they don’t submit to cars, they will continue to die"
The Tucson Citizen finally published an opinion piece I wrote that gives a few examples of what some of my clients have had to deal with after being assaulted or injured by motorists. My favorite comment to the article so far is this one:
“I was driving down Mt. Lemmon one morning and a bike [...]
