Hit and Run: silver Nissan Versa, Gilbert area, right side mirror damage
From an email:
A REQUEST:
Please look for a 2007 or 2008 silver Nissan Versa with the right side mirror significantly damaged and possibly scratches along the right side of the car. If you observe such a car do NOT approach the driver, please instead record the license number and report it to Gilbert Police at [...]
Austin, Tex. v. Tucson, Ariz.
My friend and former legal assistant Lauren is, as most of you know, on a permanent bike tour. She is currently in Austin for a few days and wrote a long review of that city from a bicycling perspective on her blog, here. She discusses the bike culture, the bike co-op, and (goodness!) [...]

It averages $8,758.00 per year, per household. (This takes into account all costs of ownership, not just purchase.)
So if you make twenty dollars an hour that means you pay for your car in about 450 hours of work, or just shy of twelve weeks. A week every month to have a car. [...]
Carhead and Allen Johnson
The best source of news on Officer Allen Johnson has been KVOA. The driver still has not been charged in that incident, but from the tone of the Pima County Sheriff’s Dept., I am thinking she eventually will be.
One comment on the KVOA site caught my eye. It said:
Cycling in Tucson streets is [...]
Still no citations in Allen Johnson fatality
Bicyclist and Tucson Police Officer Allen Johnson was struck from behind in the bike lane on Old Spanish Trail, but still no citations have been issued to the driver. The news has been sparse on this incident, but it is pretty hard for me to believe the driver did not at least violate Ariz. [...]

Do people need special licenses to drive those [...]
Patti Lopez ghost bike already vandalized, and already replaced
I hate having to report on ghost bikes getting vandalized. But they do. The Jose Rincon ghost bike was repeatedly vandalized. A ghost bike we installed on Columbus and Grant for Peter Visconti III was completely removed, presumably by the local business owner (though we don’t know that).
Now according to an email [...]

White Honda, loud exhaust, Mt. Lemmon this morning — do you know this person?
Lately I have been thinking about ways to spread the word publicly about people who endanger the lives of cyclists. The other day I was grazed by a green Suburban not once but twice. I couldn’t catch up to the guy on my single-speed but I thought that if I had my camera it [...]
