ADOT working to repair and replace Grant Davis’s ghostbike
ghostbikes March 4th, 2010
I got a call from the Arizona Department of Transportation today to alert me that they had removed the ghostbike that was anonymously installed for Grant Davis.
I appreciated that call a lot.
It seems the bike was inadvertently installed inside some kind of federally-mandated safety zone and ADOT was compelled to move it, but in the process of moving it they broke the frame. So, they brought it back to their shop for repairs! (This just goes to show what a good a job the installer of this ghost bike did to ensure it didn’t get stolen.)
They will re-install it at a nearby location that does not conflict with their standards.

Erik, Thanks for the up date on Grant’s “ghost bike”. If you get the chance it would be very nice to let the ADOT official know his kind and thoughtful action is very well received by the Tucson Bike community. This person deserves a commendation.

Just saw your original post about the ghost bike. I’ve never heard of ghost bike memorials before. What a great way to remember a fallen bicyclist. It’s nice of the ADOT to have responded and that they will be re-installing it nearby.
