And now for something completely different . . .

I’ve heard a few people tell me they don’t like to read this blog because it is so focused on bicycling accidents, assaults, and fatalities. It depresses them.
So today, this day after Thanksgiving, I’d like to remind everyone that bicycling is not only safer than driving, it’s even safer than living.
At least according to this article, the breakdown is as follows:
| Activity | Fatalities per million hours activity |
| Skydiving | 128.7 |
| On-road motorcycling | 8.8 |
| Scuba diving | 2.0 |
| Living (all causes of death) | 1.5 |
| Snowmobiling | 0.9 |
| Passenger cars | 0.5 |
| Water skiing | 0.3 |
| Bicycling | 0.3 |
| Flying (scheduled domestic airlines) | 0.2 |

For fun, check out check out this video of base jumping, something I predict is considerably more dangerous, and less useful, than bicycling.
I’m glad I don’t have to represent those guys!
