This was a case of being killed by excessive politeness. All but one car stopped and tried to wave the rider through on his left turn. But the one that didn’t stop… That’s why I never let people wave me through a left turn when there’s more than one lane. But do not be impolite, bow to the driver and wave him or her through the intersection, and say loud enough for the driver to hear “Thank You!”

How many is that so far this year? Tucson sure must be a scary place to ride. I’ve never seen so many deaths.

I try to follow the right of way protocols…if someone tries to wave me through out of turn, I pretend I see an airplane or I look away and get a drink. I know people are trying to be nice, but what they are proposing is not safe. I’ll wait my turn, thanks though!
