“Blocks shoulder”
I’d rather have that than a right hook!

Considering blocking the shoulder is illegal. Are you tying to marginalize illegal behavior?

Thanks Erik….. I got one ! A new toy, I’ll put it to good use.

Awesome Don. Spreading the message is easier through video.

Hey BB, I very much like what you did. Classy stuff. I always see video cameras in police car dash/cam. Now , I have my own dash cam. You never know when it will come in handy. I also like very much your message. We see cars pull out in front of us, cars that cut us off, almost hit us with total disregard for our safety. With a classy video getting the message out to motorists might help. Wouldn’t it be great to make one for traffic (driver) school ? Again Thanks.

Don, that is a great idea — a video to be shown at traffic school. That’s the kind of thing we all need to be working on, getting material like that together and making the appropriate noise to get it taken seriously.
I would also like to see (others have advocated this recently — it was not my idea) more attention paid to cycling safety in general and the three-foot rule specifically in the AZ Driver’s Exam.
It would be nice if my own safety advocacy could be directed toward something other than painting yet more ghost bikes.

Hey Erik….. Thanks. I’m going to follow up on your idea, I LIKE IT ! I’m going to talk to MVD , try to find out what it takes to have the 3 foot law (28-735) question on the drivers test ! I would also like to add 28-815, turns from bike lanes/prohibited. I’ll keep in touch. As always , thanks for what you do for the bike community. OH, Yea, we know about those ghost bikes. Although painting the bike lanes BLUE at intersections is not a bad idea either. Yea, I would much rather paint bike lanes than ghost bikes.

Yea anytime Don, I think adding the 3 foot rule and drivers ed would be a great idea. You can sign up at Vimeo.com (free) to host your videos. Windows Movie Maker is what I used to edit them also free. It is funny you can talk all day long about your safety. Yet you only need a few videos to get the message across.

BB thanks for the info… Erik I contacted MVD, I was told there is a question on the driver test about the three foot law, 28-735, and a question as to A.R.S. 28-815 that applies to bicyclists and following the same laws as cars. However, nothing about turning from a bike lane/prohibited by autos. That information is not covered in the driver manual, so they will not put it on the test. To make that one small change would cost thousands of dollars they do not have. Dead in the water. But it’s been a long time sense my last MVD test, at least I learned the 3 foot law is on the test. Thanks
