BICAS wins “Bicycle Advocate of the Year” Award from TPCBAC
I was so pleased to get this email yesterday from Kylie Walzak, the Education Coordinator at BICAS!
The Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee (TPCBAC) has chosen BICAS as this year’s recipient of its Bicycle Advocate of the Year Award.
According to the BAC’s chair, Brian Beck, the Bicycling Advocate of the Year Award will be presented to an individual, organization or agency that has worked diligently and effectively over the past year (or years) to promote bicycling as a means of transportation and/or recreation in Eastern Pima County.”
The award will be presented to BICAS next Friday morning, April 9th, at 7:45 am at the Bike 2 Work tabling event.
I am so proud of the work BICAS does in this community for ordinary, every-day bikers in the way of mechanical help, advocacy, and promotion of bicycling. If you’ve never been down to BICAS, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
And stop by their table next week at Bike-to-Work.

A well deserved award for a great organization.
Besides coming down for the awards ceremony, bike down for the free breakfast. Empanadas from Anita Street Market, Clif Bars, juice, and coffee from Maynards will be served to all bicyclists from 7 to 10am on the patio of the Train Station, also at Maynards. The empanadas are going to go fast so don’t show up too late.
Bike 2 Work Week is the City/PAG/County’s and local businesses/organizations way of saying thanks to all Tucsonans who get around by bike.
The Celebration at Maynard’s is the final event of Bike 2 Work week. Be sure to visit some of the other Bike 2 Work partners hosting stations around the Tucson region. Dozens of local businesses are offering awesome deals or even freebies next week. Take a friend. Tell them thanks for supporting bike commuters.
