Canada is so cool…

Uncategorized October 10th, 2007

So everyone should check out the latest accommodation for cyclists in Quebec. It is call La Route Verte and was officially inaugurated last August. The Route claims about 2,500 miles of bike paths spanning Quebec’s 16 southern regions. The Quebec ministry of transportation has converted abandoned rail ways, light-traffic rural roads, and paved highway shoulders to “designated cycling routes.”

Not only are there campsites along the Route Verte, but they are equipped with bike pumps and tools for quick tune ups. The website also promises that restaurants along the bike paths are cyclist-friendly and will cater to a cyclist’s diet, serving lots of fruits and veggies and high-carb snacks.

Three cheers for the Quebec ministry of transportation, and then three more cheers for miles and miles and miles of bike paths!

Hey I just stumbled across your blog. Bookmarked it. I spent the first 30 years of my life in Tucson. It’s great to see a blog about cycling in my home town.
