Bike-watching in Colombia

Posted by Erik on November 2nd, 2009 filed in Cool bikes

Some people like to bird-watch. They carry lists around and every time they see a bird they’ve never seen before, they add it to their “life list.”
Well I do that with cargo bikes. Is it so wrong?

I was checking out this guy’s cargo bike while eating one of the empanadas he was selling [...]

Obviously, I need to go to Burning Man next year

Posted by Erik on October 17th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes

Tucson bike lawyer, as my readers know, from time to time visits foreign locales to check out the bike scene there. Last year, for example, I spent two weeks in Mexico City trying to buy a three-wheeled ice bike.
After reviewing the photos Bryan has sent me of Burning Man, I think maybe I should [...]

Cargo bikes!

Posted by Erik on October 15th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes, Joie de vivre, imminent death of car-based culture

A cargo bike blog somehow related to Xtracycle has just featured two from Tucson — the couple above on their monstrous bakfiets-xtracycle and the Mercurio that BICAS just auctioned off. Check it out! http://www.cargobikegallery.com

And if you don’t win, well, it’s six bucks to a good cause.
You can use the paypal button a few [...]

BICAS, Tucson’s amazingly cool bike co-op, is celebrating its twentieth birthday party this weekend and among the many things going on that day they are raffling off this brand-new Mercurio Cargo bike, formerly available only in Mexico.

All you have to do to win this beauty is to buy a raffle ticket for six bucks (or [...]

20,000 people attend Budapest Critical Mass “Fashion ride”

So says Copenhagen Cycle Chic.
This Critical Mass had a less agro attitude than ours tend to — they stopped at lights, for example. I can hardly imagine what 20,000 riders must look like, but I’d sure like to see it some day.
Our own Tuesday Night Bike Ride had 215 riders this week, or about [...]
