Posted by Erik on October 13th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes, Joie de vivre, Tuesday night ride

Just a reminder. Bring your coolest bike, a good attitude, and enjoy the coolest ride in the coolest weather we’ve had in awhile. There were 250 riders last week including the two pictured above!
The ride meets at the flagpole at Old Main: go to Park and University and go one block east into [...]

Posted by Erik on October 7th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes

And if you don’t win, well, it’s six bucks to a good cause.
You can use the paypal button a few [...]

20,000 people attend Budapest Critical Mass “Fashion ride”

So says Copenhagen Cycle Chic.
This Critical Mass had a less agro attitude than ours tend to — they stopped at lights, for example. I can hardly imagine what 20,000 riders must look like, but I’d sure like to see it some day.
Our own Tuesday Night Bike Ride had 215 riders this week, or about [...]

BICAS gets a break, and a good one

Posted by Erik on June 11th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes, Joie de vivre, opportunity knocks, vexation of the spirit

There has been a lot of press about BICAS lately, because their landlord David Aguirre decided to raise their rent from $800 a month to $1,890.00 a month in one fell swoop, citing specious reasons like increased garbage fees and excessive electrical use in the BICAS space (which has no heating or cooling), and then [...]

Hmmm check this out

Posted by Erik on May 27th, 2009 filed in Cool bikes, imminent death of car-based culture, opportunity knocks

Evidently I can win one of these things if somebody clicks on the above link.
But I’m not posting this because I might win a pretty new longtail. I actually think these might be cool.
There’s a link for “Become a Madsen Dealer” too. Anyone?

OMG look at all that water!

Posted by Erik on May 2nd, 2009 filed in Cool bikes, Joie de vivre

The folks at Copenhagenize, who obviously have a lot of time on their hands, made a video in response to the one showing cops giving out helmets to people in Denmark. They don’t like helmets at Copenhagenize.

But all I could think about watching their video is how cool it would be to live in [...]
