Christian Gbele dies from severe brain injury after being struck by a truck while biking

Christian Gbele, a 14-year-old high school student, died of severe brain injury after being struck by a truck while reportedly riding a bike in a crosswalk in South Tucson. Christian was removed from life support September 11, 2007 after nearly two weeks in a coma following the accident.

According to the article in the Arizona Daily Star the accident occurred on August 31st, at S. 6th Ave. and Valencia. Currently no citations have been issued, and according to TPD the investigation is ongoing.

Christian was born in Ivory Coast and still has family in Togo where his parents hope to fly him for his burial.
