El Grupo training for 24 Hour Race

After awesome finishes in the 109 mile and 35 mile races in El Tour de Tucson, the members of the high school cycling team El Grupo have traded their road bikes for mountain bikes to train for the 24 hour race that will take place on February 16th. The race course is a 16 mile lap with a 1200 ft. elevation gain. Coaches Ignacio and Christian have been taking the group on rides at Starr Pass on Sunday mornings in preparation for the event. El Grupo will have two coed relay teams participating.
In addition to training, the team has also been hard at work at BICAS building a life-size saguaro cactus out of bike parts for the event. Donations to El Grupo can be sent to 23 W. 4th St. Tucson, AZ 85705.
