Well, maybe the L.A.P.D. chief’s recent speech about finally starting to protect cyclists *wasn’t* just a lot of politically inspired hot air after all.
I was in Scottsdale yesterday. The street in front of an elementary school had a nice wide bike lane. But all the parents picking up their kids were parking in it. I watched as a bicyclist weaved his way in and out of the cars.
Here’s a radical idea: maybe these parents should make their kids ride their bikes to school using these bike lanes.
Yes but it was unsafe passing citation, and not driving in a bike lane. Maybe slap some endangering ticket on there. Which begs the question why not both?
A.R.S. 28-815, has to be one of the most ignored by police officers statutes in Arizona. ” NO PERSON SHALL OPERATE or leave standing a vehicle in a path or lane designated as a bicycle path” …….. WHY ?
@DON Where would the cops park if they actually enforced that law? Plus there has to be someplace to pull people over and write them speeding tickets, right?
Tucson Velo. Take a look at the statute, POLICE and FIRE vehicles are exempt from the statute. They are the only ones…. ONLY ONES ! I would gladly ride around a cop parked in a bike lane writing such a ticket. I would probably stop and applaud while he wrote it….
Mornings past schools are the worst. I really think they believe its okay to park in the bike lane.
