Hermosillo velodrome

This photo is from the awesome El Grup blog post about their trip last weekend to ride the velodrome down in Hermosillo. They also did a road race.

Why don’t we get to have a velodrome?? Isn’t this supposed to be a gold-star biking city?

Hermosillo’s is 250 meters with a 44 degree bank. Nice.

Maybe South Tucson will get one.

Isn’t there a group in tucson trying to get funding for a velodrome? I feel like I’ve signed a petition for that like a dozen times

    Richard DeBernardis had it all
lined up to put one in Udall
park a year or so ago…except
    for about $1million. There were
    some matching funds ready from
the city, too, but that was then
and this is now. Not sure, but I
    think Glassman changed his mind
about Udall park, too. I sure
would like to see it at Rillito
park! Or put it over at the Convento
and we could ride the streetcar to it.

I’d like to see it in Downtown Tucson. Be close to a lot of other interesting things. Not to mention a lot more interesting than, say, an aquarium in the desert.

hey.. no brakes allowed on the track!

According to Don Melhado, the newest site on the list is the Sports Park in Marana (1-10 & Ina).
