"How can you not see my baby on a bike. I just want to know why. It’s just too soon"

This Yehuda Moon comic strip took on an eerie meaning for me today when I read the news account about the young girl from San Jose who was killed while riding her bike home from school . . . by a woman who was driving to pick up her own children. A very sad story. From the news story:

On Monday night, about 100 neighbors gathered near the accident scene to demand that the city install speed bumps or signs to slow down and control traffic. They said an elementary school, a middle school and a high school are all within blocks of each other.

Meanwhile, Breanna’s mother is struggling to deal with the death of her daughter. Donna Slaughter said: “How can you not see my baby on a bike. I just want to know why. It’s just too soon”.

  1. Janet K. Miller Says:

I live a block from Safford Elementary/MiddleSchool, and every day after school I’m amazed at the speed of parents tearing down my street to pick up their kids. Do they think their kids are the only ones that count?

  2. Bicycle Mark Says:

The news article says the driver HAD NO LICENSE!! Her a$$ ought to be in JAIL, but probably isn’t, since it was “just a bicyclist”. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
