More about Velo Med

Uncategorized June 18th, 2008

The Velo Med doctor has informed us that a bike rack will soon be installed. They have bike lockers available (cool!)…and they are “committed to injured cyclists.” Bill Peterson, a local pedorthist, is also available for orthotic fittings for cycling and running shoe inserts. Best of all, according to this article in the AZ Star, a number of staff members commute to work by bike!

As someone who is constantly acquiring minor injuries, I must say that the urgent care facility really is the way to go. You get seen so much faster than the emergency room and the environment is much more comfortable than the hospital. With my luck I’m sure it is only a matter of time before I fall and need to get stitched back together at Velo Med.

Figures they’re on the opposite side of town from me.

I’ve recently gotten new health insurance, with it, a new doctor. That new doctor sent me to a new specialist, and I’ve been going up and down North La Cholla for doctor’s appointments, lab work, imaging … and not one of these places had a proper bike rack. Do they assume that the people visiting them are too sick to ride bikes, or aren’t interested in their own health enough to visit when they’re healthy?
