Pashley Bicycles

Cool bikes, TPD shortcomings July 23rd, 2008

My friend J. at 43bikes.com turned me on to these folks last night on the Tuesday Night Ride. I just finished work and poked around for them on the internet and found them here. Good lord they make gorgeous bicycles!

A new object of my desire and affection . . . .

Does no one in the U.S. make bikes like this?

Update: I have just been contacted by Belmont Distribution in Phoenix. They sell these bikes and are looking for retailers! This means you Ordinary Bike Shop!

Does anyone in the US make bikes period? It’s all made in Taiwan…

Well, there’s Worksman Cycles. I like them but they are a bit too hamfisted for me. I can barely lift my Worksman Industrial Bike. Just the front hub on that thing must weigh six pounds–it’s massive. The kind of thing you might expect to find on a boxcar.

So excited to share Pashley/Moulton love! If you hadn’t heard by now, there is now a Phoenix retailer for Pashley — but I don’t see a Tucson one, alas.
