Thinking about rickshaws

Uncategorized December 20th, 2007

There’s a guy selling what look to be honest-to-God rickshaws on ebay for three hundred bucks. And that’s with shipping included! I have a feeling the quality of these things is extremely poor, but even so, a rickshaw would be cool to have for when visitors come from out of town.

The one friend of mine who most often visits is over six feet tall, like me, so sharing a bike isn’t a problem when he stops by. And I have a women’s Schwinn bike with a two-speed kick-back hub that I can usually fit a female visitor on.

But you know, sometimes you just want to drag somebody along who doesn’t have a bike.

The Xtra-Cycle works okay for that but the ride isn’t that comfortable for the passenger. And sometimes people get a little nervous stepping into my cargo bike.

So maybe I’ll get one. For Christmas.

When we were in the Yucatan they had a bike similar, possibly the same as, the Mercurio Cargo Bike you posted about with the front being converted to seating for 2.

My favorite stylish option for out of town guests: the $5/day rentals at BICAS. Each bike is unique in all the world, and contributes to visitors’ sense of the uniqueness of Tucson.
