Tucsonvelo.com

Yay! January 19th, 2010

Between the horrific news from Haiti and a full calendar, I’ve not had much to add in the past few weeks and some of my readers have been pestering me about it.

So I’m glad to report that Mike McKisson has started tucsonvelo.com, a website along the bikeportland.org model, which along with being a much needed forum for Tucson cyclists will also hopefully relieve some of my own burden here at TBL. I’ve thought for a long time that Tucson needs a more general bike Website than I have the time, ability, or inclination to offer, and Mike’s just the guy to do it because he is a skilled writer, an energetic activist, and multi-faceted cyclist. He understands that there are actually several very different bike communities in Tucson and they have different needs and perspectives. I’ve often been frustrated with the conceptual wall between, say, the weekend riders and the so-called “utility cyclists.” I think Mike is going to do a good job making Tucsonvelo relevant to all.

So check it out.

    Erik,

    Thanks for the plug!

I am completely open to suggestions about what to cover, so please email me if you have ideas or suggestions.

Thanks for doing your part to get the tucsonvelo site “out there.”

And yes, nailing a blob of mercury, herding kittens, etc, etc, (reporting and advocating, providing a forum) are time-consuming and stressful tasks. We had no idea!
