Update on Gary Stuebe, injured El Tour Rider
As most of you know, Gary Stuebe was critically injured nearly a month ago at the El Tour de Tucson. He seems to be improving, but the improvement is very slow as he suffered a brain injury. This is what I have:
UPDATE GARY STUEBE:
Gary opened his eyes yesterday. I asked him if he could hear me to blink his eyes. He did!
He is on Dialysis right now but doctors believe his kidneys will regain their function now that he is waking up. He is still very critical. Please pass along this to anyone and everyone in the cycling community.
Gary Stuebe medical fund at any Bank of America. It is in Gary Stuebe’s name. Gary’s wife Angela is not working so she can take care of the family and be with Gary as much as possible. Gary obviously hasn’t worked in almost 4 weeks now.
Christmas is a time of giving. If just everyone who gets this could donate $10.00 it would help Angela pay monthly household bills, buy food, and some Christmas gifts for their children.
Thank You
Gene Landersps – Gary’s 42nd birthday is this Friday the 19th.
The driver who drove into Stuebbe and left him unconscious on the pavement while he inspected the damage to his car and then drove home to wipe it down has been identified, but still has not been charged by the County Attorney’s Office. If you wonder why this is, you can always ask them — they are easy to reach:

Erik, would a call/letter/email from an out-of-towner like myself be of any assistance? I have been following this since it hit the papers and as a victim of hit-and-run I’m incensed (patchouli);) that no charges have been filed. He hit, was seen to have hit by several witnesses, he ran, ditto the witnesses on the running, and he attempted to destroy the evidence by cleaning the debris from his car. By my book that’s destruction of evidence and interfering with an investigation and obstructing justice, on top of the hit-and-run… I don’t care what Great Thing he was involved with in the past, what he did now is illegal, and he doesn’t even have the excuse of being with the president making it not illegal…

I tried to make a donation at the B of A in Downtown Tucson and they were unable to find any special fund account. Any suggestions as to another route to help this family?
Thanks.

I also am interested in making a donation but do not know where to send it to, particularly in light of Cathy’s comment (above). Any further information would be appreciated.
