What a great Tuesday Night Community Bike Ride last night!

I joined my friends Janet and Paulus for a pre-ride dinner party at their house and we all wondered if, with school out, there would be much of a turnout on the Tuesday Night Bike Ride. But when we got there it seemed just about as big as always. Does anybody even count anymore? There were a lot of people out.
Paulus was rocking a beautiful old blue fixed-gear Atala with Sugino Super-Mighty cranks. You don’t see those much any more. I rode my beloved Raleigh Tourist, pictured above, purchased recently from my friend Arlo.
The ride went through two different graduation ceremonies. The first was an elementary school in Barrio Anita, where we stopped to listen to the school’s marching band and a few vocalists before cheering and hollering and moving on.
Then we went through the Tucson Convention Center parking lot where some school–maybe Pima Community College?–was holding a graduation ceremony. Lots more cheering and hollering and high-fiving the berobed graduates as we rode by. They were all far too happy to even wonder what we were doing there.
